What Is National School Sports Week?

Everyone on Twitter is talking about it, but what is National School Sports Week?

The Youth Sport Trust started this annual celebration in 2008, and it has run every year since, even during lockdown (although it was repositioned as National School Sport Week at Home for this period). It is run in association with European School Sports Day.

This year, National School Sports Week runs from Monday 19th June to Friday 25th June, and is celebrating the theme ‘Together Again’. The idea is for schools to organise an event to take place in that week, focusing on the celebration of the return of youth sport and its power to bring people back together. Everyone who signs up for the scheme will receive free resources from the Youth Sport Trust, including Top Tips for running an impactful sports day.

Registrations for National School Sports Week 2021 are now open. Any school, organisation or individual who signs up will receive the Youth Sport Trust’s ultimate guide to putting on a successful school sports day, along with a communications toolkit to help you publicise your involvement.
