The summer is over (where did the time go?), and we are back for a new academic year! We hope you have taken plenty of time to relax and take proper time for yourself. Thinking ahead, we are sure you have planned some great activities and lessons for the upcoming term. We know how important it is to start the year as you mean to go on, especially when it comes to building relationships with a new class.
Imagine spending a full summer holiday away from school, not even thinking about doing any work or taking part in anything remotely academic. Well, that’s what most of your pupils will have done for the last 6 weeks! Often we, as teachers, don’t have the time to find out all the exciting things our students have done during the 6 week break, which is a shame as it’s a great way to bond.
In our new, free resource, our ‘Summer Reflection Journal’, we ask the children who they’ve spent time with, what memories they have made and what they are looking forward to now they are back at school. It is a useful resource for the first day back at school, and could form the basis of insightful conversations and group discussions.
The Summer Reflection Journal could be a great piece of work to save and look at again at the end of the summer term to help the children look back and remember the fun times from the previous summer holiday.
We think you’ll love our Summer Reflection Journal as much as we do. Download it here.
